Aliana de la Guardia and Ariel Campos make up Bahué, a Latin American duo that focuses exclusively on Latin culture through music to amplify Latin artistic voices and champion the contemporary voice of their community.

Aliana de la Guardia is a Springfield resident and faculty at the Community Music School of Springfield. A transplant from Boston, the Latina arts leader is a warrior for artistic misfits and fights for the representation of Latin composers in contemporary classical music by Latin artists.

“The classical music we experience, while beautiful and important, is ancient and excludes the voice of artists from the global majority. In this city, as 50% of the population, the voice of the Latine people is of the utmost importance. The music I participate in represents artists who are creating music now and asking questions about the world we live in. We need to be seen beyond cultural stereotypes. ” - Aliana de la Guardia, Bahué co-founder, Executive Director of Guerilla Opera, Operatic Soprano, and Latina Arts Leader

Presenting the contemporary voice of Latin composers in Springfield, MA, where nearly 50% of the population is Latine, is essential for fostering cultural representation, pride, and unity within the community. It enhances cultural education and inclusivity, reflecting the city's diverse demographic. When extraordinary Latin artists are presented, such as Campos and de la Guardia, it fosters cultural pride and enhances the city's cultural landscape while providing inspirational role models for local artists.
